RPYO & RPO Side-by-Side: Truth to Power
  •
  • Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre

Help us celebrate the RPYO’s triumphant return to Rochester after a successful international tour with performances in Boston’s Symphony Hall and the Eglise Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church in Montreal! Welcome home these incredible student musicians as they present an encore performance of their “Truth to Power” program alongside your RPO – featuring a “pay-what-you-want” pricing model for this unique concert.

Led by RPO Assistant Conductor and RPYO Music Director Jherrard Hardeman, the orchestras sit side-by-side to perform an exhilarating musical odyssey exploring the vibrant essence of Russian music through two masterful compositions. First, immerse yourself in the spirited vitality of Russian Sailors’ Dance – a compelling piece from Glière’s ballet The Red Poppy. “Truth to Power” then features Dmitri Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 11, “The Year 1905,” a powerful reflection on the complexity of the Russian Revolution of 1905, marked by its dramatic intensity and vivid melodies.

For this unique concert only, we’re asking you to “pay what you want” -- with the funds going directly to help support the mission of the RPYO. Let’s all give them a warm welcome home!
